John E. Upledger, D.O., O.M.M. is President of The Upledger Institute in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, an educational and clinical resource center founded by Dr. Upledger in 1985. Courses offered through the Institute teach noninvasive therapies to physicians and healthcare practitioners of all disciplines. Dr. Upledger was formerly a professor in the Department of Biomechanics, College of Osteopathic Medicine at Michigan State University. He has been in the forefront of basic science and clinical research in the field of craniosacral therapy. Books by Dr. Upledger include Cranioscacral Therapy, Craniosacral Therapy II: Beyond the Dura, SomatoEmotional Release and Beyond, Your Inner Physician and You, and A Brain is Born. Jon D. Vredevoogd, M.F.A. is an assistant professor in the Department of Human Ecology at Michigan State University. His special interest lies in the area of basic design of natural structures. I read all that I can...as I was struck on the head by an 18# cannonball...that wasknocked off a standpipe...24 ft high...so your help was greatly appreciated...too bad more doctors arenot schooled in these techniques. Thank you for your book!
Excellent stories about CST. Also contains descriptions of some simple techniques.
This book is very difficult to read, but it is full of amazing information. I read it to prepare for a 4-day workshop on CranioSacral Therapy from The Upledger Institute. I had to read the book before the class, and again after the class. It made much more sense the second time.I was a little skeptical at first, but I decided to give the therapy a try. I'm very glad I did, too. My son had been diagnosed with PDD (autism) and bipolar disorder before I took the class. After a couple of years of using CranioSacral Therapy (and a few other things), he now has ADD. He no longer takes the bipolar medication, and people who know him would never suspect PDD.It has been A LOT of work, but it's worth every minute of it!
A great read. Craniosacral technique is invaluable as a natural healing modality.
I purchased this book to prepare for an upcoming Craniosacral Therapy course I plan to attend. Obviously it is a very technical book, not really for casual reading, but for the alternative healthcare enthusiast who is planning to take a CST course..... this is probably the required reading textbook. Written by a widely recognized expert in this field and fairly easy to comprehend if this is a field you are involved with. Good price and just the material you will need to prepare for a CST course.

The "search inside" aspect for this book shows an illustration demonstrating one of the techniques, however discussion of techniques is limited to 16 pages of the 120 pg text. It's also irritating to be provided an 800 number to order self-therapy props and pitches for the author's one-day training course - what did I just buy, advertising?
